Finding Common Ground

This Christmas our cohort of young makers collaborated with Frimhurst Enterprises. Through learning the skill of lino cutting they were able to create Christmas Cards to be shared far and wide. In doing so we raised awareness and funds for the incredible work Frimhurst Eterprises do.

  • Creative Skills

At the beginning of our programme, participants undertook four weeks of creative skills based training. The sessions, equipped our participants with core skills necessary for creating high quality lino prints.

  • Leadership Skills

Every participant is given the opportunity to learn leadership skills. This aspect of the program is designed to help participants share their new creative skills, connecting with participants from a local charity.

  • Work Experience

Whilst undertaking their mentorship, each participant has the opportunity to take part in our charity collaboration workshop. This term we invited Frimhurst enterprises into our studio, allowing them to share their creative and leadership skills.

  • Social Enterprise Skills

Our team of young makers gained experience in creating products from our charity collaboration outcomes.

Feedback from Frimhurst Enterprises

“The young makers led a workshop on Lino printing for 6 adults with moderate to severe learning disabilities on Saturday 4th November. The activity was planned meticulously to enable this cohort to fully participate.

The young makers welcomed the group and made them feel comfortable.

They ensured protective personal equipment was available and ensured all clients had aprons on and were settled before beginning session.

They ensured each client had adequate support from younger Pupils and also enabled these younger students to take responsibility for engaging with clients.

They then demonstrated techniques involved and they supported the clients to actively get involved. They were able to differentiate between clients differing needs so that each client was able to perform activity to their best ability. They both had a very engaging manner but also quietly stepped back as soon as they could see client was able to take the lead themselves.

All the clients were able to participate in activity and the morning flew past.

It was lovely to see two such capable young people rise to a new challenge with some much confidence.

The clients all thoroughly enjoyed the session and the young makers who helped with the activity made it such an inclusive and productive session. A great to themselves and the school..”
